Sometimes, I notice some WordPress updates being ignored by some of my clients and friends all the time and I try to warn them about ignoring these updates and why it is important to update your blog or website as often as possible. Here are some reasons why.

To Improve Features Of Your Blog
WordPress is fast growing & improving every day. They actually make some updates when they find they can do better than the previous version and add more functionalities. Therefore, by updating it you also receive all of those new, modern features.

To Keep Your Blog Safe
To me this is the most important part, hackers actually look at your source code and view some plugins used and check whether is up to date and search for some vulnerability and see how they can break into your site. So keeping you must keep your WordPress and plugins updated at all times if you want to avoid hackers breaking down your blog. Go ahead & do this now. Safety is important.

To Avoid Errors
If you run into any error when designing or upgrading your blog- make sure all of your plugins & WordPress itself is up to date, it might just fix the error you’re dealing with.

To Achieve The Best Performance
Always keeping your blog up to date can help you achieve the best speed of your website & improve overall performance.

To Fix Bugs
Updates to WordPress & plugins often fix bugs that were discovered in previous versions.

To Improve User Experience
Most updates to WordPress make the content management system way quicker, easier and nicer to use.

To Avoid Major Disruptions In The Future
If you go years without updating your blog, you then risk experiencing major errors when you finally decide to update it. Make sure to run updates on your blog as often as possible in order to keep your blog running smoothly at all times.

Conclusion: Always updating your WordPress and plugins is very important as you have seen with the reasons I pointed out above. Updating only takes few minutes so you can spare that to update your website and experience new featured and fix bugs.

Let me know if this changed your mind at all!

What's popping pals. Today we're going to be looking at the difference between a Domain and a Website. Normally, people differentiate between a Domain and Hosting but recently someone asked me whether a domain is a website. So here is what I've got to say about this.

Using many reference from the internet, I've come up with this tip.
First, when the word Domain comes to mind, what do you think of? You can think of a Domain as an area of territory owned or controlled by a particular ruler or government. ( I don't think that was the answer you were actually looking for but is very similar).

Every website is identified by a unique series of numbers called an IP address. This numeric set is what your computer uses to connect to the server where the website data lives.

For someone to access your website they need to type in your domain name. Computers communicate using something called an IP address, which looks something like this: 127.0.0.1. If you type in the IP address that’s associated with your domain name you’ll end up seeing the same exact result as what you would see if you typed in your domain name.

It’s highly unlikely anyone will remember a random string of numbers, (imagine if an alternative name for your dad is 192.168.0.1, which would be easier to remember, Dad or 192.168.0.1?) so your domain serves as a more user-friendly version of your IP address. Your domain acts as an easy to remember way for your visitors to access your website. Take for example CPDemy.com.

There are two parts of your domain name: the TLD and the actual domain name. The TLD is the part of the domain name that follows the bulk of your domain.

For the domain name cpdemy.com, .com is the TLD(Top Level Domain). When choosing your domain you’ll notice there are a number of top-level domains available. They all have different connotations, so make sure you choose wisely.

Now for better understanding just think a domain as a distinct subset of the Internet with addresses sharing a common suffix or under the control of a particular organization or individual

On the other hand, What Is a Website?
A website is a collection of web pages on the world wide web (what you know as the Internet), that lives on a certain domain name.

Your website is actually more like a living entity. It’s based upon the relationship between your site files, your web host, and your domain name. If any one of these three aren’t working, your website won’t display.

The bulk of your website will be comprised of web pages, which are documents written in a variety of web languages, usually HTML, CSS, and some form of JavaScript. These act as instructions for the web browser for how your website will actually display.

How They Work Together
As you can see from above, your website and your domain and intricately tied. You need both, along with a web host(You can think of the web host as the Government that is in control of your domain), for anything to be available to your visitors.

Your domain name points to your web server where all of your files are hosted and those files are generated when a user types in your domain name to display your website.

Conclusion
From the explanation above, I hope you've got a clearer understanding of the difference between a domain and a website and how they function together.

If you need a website or a blog, you can contact me, if you want to do it by yourself, that great, Hostgator is a great place to start.

Any other question, let me know and I'll do my best to clarify you. If you have a better answer, would love to see it in the comment and make an update to this post.
